I want to read and learn all I can, write thoughtfully and truthfully, live according to reason and ever more mature wisdom, and savor every wonderful little gift of life.
This is something I’ve been thinking of doing for a while now, and I finally took the leap and did it: I made a book out of my favorite (and nicest) blog posts, poems, and essays that I’ve written in the last couple of years, to give as a gift to my family and friends (they’re always asking me what I’m writing…if they truly want to know, this should keep them busy until I have time to write a real book!), for fun (the biggest reason), and in case anyone else is moved to buy it as a gift book. (It might already be too late for Christmas this year, though; I don’t know.)
I’ve titled it A Bringer of New Things. Most of the content is from my blog, but edited to be more suitable for print; it does contain several poems that are not on this blog. I divided the book into four parts: “On the Inner Life,” “On Life with People,” “On Writing and Ambition,” and “On Learning and Growing.”
If everything looks good when I get the printed copy in the mail, I’ll go ahead and make it available on Amazon and other places; but for now it’s available from Lulu.com here. I wanted the cost to be almost nothing, but unfortunately Lulu gave me a minimum price. I hope in the future I’ll find a way to sell it for a lower price online.
This has been fun! Now, back to knitting: I’m actually trying to knit everyone in our families something for Christmas, and I still have a lot left to do! After Christmas I’ll post a gallery of photos of everything I made. 🙂
I hope you are all enjoying the holidays!
