My Favorite Inspirational Songs

Continuing on this week’s emerging theme, I want to share some of my “inspirational” playlist with you.

Music is a huge part of my life, as it probably is for many of you as well. I lean on songs like crutches in hard times and bounce off of them like springboards in good times. Right now, as I’m facing obstacles, I’m using these songs as a bit of both!

(I did a similar post on my other blog [“Changing My Entire Identity: Songs that Helped Me Through”]; and as I said there, I will say here that I know people have widely differing tastes in music, so I understand that all of you won’t love all these songs. As for myself, I was born and raised on pop, and here’s the evidence!)

Songs that help me keep on keeping on, with lines I especially relate to:

“The Climb” by Miley Cyrus

“I can almost see it, that dream I’m dreamin’, but there’s a voice inside my head sayin’ ‘You’ll never reach it’…”

“One Step at a Time” by Jordin Sparks

“Everything that you always dreamed of—close enough for you to taste, but you just can’t touch… Take one step at a time…”

“I Will Get There” by Boyz II Men

“I will get there somehow—cross that river, nothin’ stopping me now.”

“Go the Distance” from the Disney movie Hercules 🙂 (I have a pop version sung by actor Lucas Grabeel.)

“I am on my way, I can go the distance, I’ll be there someday…”

“Happy” by Leona Lewis

“I gotta find my place, I gotta find my sound. Don’t care about all the pain in front of me—I’m just trying to be happy.”

“Part of Me” by Katy Perry

“Throw your sticks and your stones, throw your bombs and your blows, but you’re not gonna break my soul.”

“Feels Like Today” by Rascal Flatts

“You treat life like a picture, but it’s not a moment that’s frozen in time; it’s not gonna wait till you make up your mind…”

“Keep Holdin’ On” by Avril Lavigne

“Keep holdin’ on, ’cause you’re gonna make it through, make it through. Just stay strong…”

“Stand” by Rascal Flatts

“When push comes to shove, you taste what you’re made of…”

“Hero” by Mariah Carey

“Then a hero comes along, with the strength to carry on…”

“Don’t Stop Believin'” by Journey

“Don’t stop believin’—hold onto that feeling…”

What songs keep your fire burning?

I wish you inspiration—and music that gives it to you!

Thanks for sharing! Here’s one that has played helpfully through my mind at times: “If You’re Going Through Hell,” sung by Rodney Atkins. The chorus is my gem: “If you’re going through hell, keep on going, don’t slow down, if you’re scared don’t show it, you might get out before the devil even knows you’re there.” : ^)

I love this idea! Mine is a bit of an unusual one because it probably isn’t what most people would consider uplifting, plus it doesn’t even have lyrics, but it always helps me find my center and regain the strength I need to continue on. Erik Satie’s ‘Pièces Froides’, consisting of a total of six enchanting piano pieces: https://youtu.be/MPz4WElbtZI

I love that—how very Zen. I’m not familiar with that set of Satie’s, but I do very much like his (probably more well-known) works that I’m familiar with, such as the Gymnopédies. I will give the Pièces Froides a listen a.s.a.p. Thank you for sharing!
